A forced breath can be just as contraindicative as holding the breath. Let your breath find it’s own slow and steady pace, and your body’s energy will fall into its natural rhythm.
During your massage, Lydia encourages deep exhalation to remove stagnant air from the lungs and to get the most vital energy from the atmosphere. Slow, regulated breathing results in less work from the heart, lower blood pressure, relaxation of the body, quiet nerves, and a feeling of peace. It is during exhalation that the body releases. Exhale completely and take in fresh oxygenated air. Concentrated breathing fills us with vital energy, qi (pronounced “chee”), oxygenates the blood and replenishes the mind/body.
